Hand-made bespoke winemaking from the leading figure in the rejuvenated heartland of the Cote d’Or.
Most of our clients have discovered first hand the impact that Didier Delagrange has had on this ancient family estate. .
When we first met with Didier in July 2006 he was busy finishing the first vintage under which he had absolute control of the vinification (2004). We had spent three days traveling through the Cote d’Or tasting an astounding number of great wines from the 2005 vintage. Despite an overload of quality wines over the previous days the 6 or 7 wines we tasted with Didier all showed incredible potential. When we progressed through to his 2005s the excitement was peaking.
The 2006 vintage has handed Didier another opportunity to develop his skills and winemaking style. His small (but growing) production of white wines are his best yet whilst his reds show more perfume and immediate appeal than he has previous achieved.

In too many instances Pommard can be over-priced and over alcoholic. Indeed throughout the 1990s a number of the leading names in this village produced wines which were dried-out, astringent and above all expensive. In fact, at one point many Burgundian fans were uncertain if Pommard would ever reestablish itself as one of the jewels of the Cote d’Or. However, when the best crus are made by the most gifted winemakers, they are probably the most exciting wines of the Cote de Beaune. Les Vaumuriens Hauts is an AOC Village vineyard with Premier Cru aspirations. It is at the uppermost slope of the cote above the village of Volnay and benefits from very old vines and soil that produces 1st class grapes, even in the driest of Burgundian vintages. The mercurial weather patterns in 2006 suited this site and Didier produced small quantities of excellent Pommard.
