If the 1er Cru Volnay ‘Clos des Chenes’ is an example of deft of touch and the purest Pinot Noir fruit then ‘Les Bertins’ is the classic tour de force. Didier is passionate about Pommard and is vocal in his criticism of the wines of the 80s & 90s produced by many of the big names. His ‘Les Bertins’ has plenty of weight and intensity but never at the expense of the key Pommard qualities of softness and complexity. Joyous depth, real class and pure fruit flavours.
The 2006 vintage has handed Didier another opportunity to develop his skills and winemaking style. His small (but growing) production of white wines are his best yet whilst his reds show more perfume and immediate appeal than he has previous achieved.
