Klein Constantia is without doubt South Africa’s most famous vineyard. It can trace its history back to the late 1600s when Simon van der Stel, the first governor of The Cape, chose the Constantia Valley for his own farm. The wines have been celebrated in literature by the likes of Jane Austen, Charles Dickens and Baudelaire and treasured for centuries by famous wine collectors like Napoleon. Nestled on the slopes of Constantia Mountain, only 20km from the centre of Cape Town, Klein Constantia is also one of the worlds most beautiful vineyard locations.
The KC Cabernet/Merlot - A late vintage characterized by good yields and generously structured, fruity wines with good colour, balance and concentration showing modest ageing potential.
This wine is made in an approachable style with modest barrel ageing and a focus on accessible fruit flavours. Whilst it will improve in bottle for up to 5 years from the date of bottling, the winemaker's suggestion is to drink it in its flush of youth, enjoying the fresh fruit flavours and soft tannins whilst still in their prime.
