A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
Many of our clients are already aware of the splendour of Magari, a Bordeaux inspired wine from Angelo Gaja, through a parcel of his 2002, which we offered last Autumn.
We are very pleased to announce that despite intense global demand we have been allocated a parcel from the 2006 vintage. Followers of Super-Tuscan wines will already know that the 2006 vintage will go down in the record-books as one of the greatest Tuscan vintages of all time. This is especially so in the Bolgheri coastal region that is home to the greatest Super-Tuscans including such masterpieces as Ornellaia, Sassicaia, Guido al Tasso and many more.
Magari 06 is, far and away, the finest vintage from the Angelo Gaja’s Ca’Macanda vineyards. It is a Bordeaux blend with a strong black fruit and mineral emphasis from the Cabernets (both Sauvignon & Franc) and the virtually floorless Merlot. The wine has astounding roundness and some spectacular moreish qualities – it is quite simply as fine an expression of the 2006 Tuscan vintage as one can expect to enjoy.
The wine, which is already delicious, will mature gracefully in bottle until 2018.
