There is growing belief from Vincent himself that he is learning how to get the very best from his St Aubin vineyards. Vintage after vintage the wine is increasing in complexity and elegance. Lean and mineral with a pleasing almond note this is a wine that flows easily into a gentle relaxed style, never losing that essential St Aubin edginess.
Beautifully balanced with abundant freshness and no little depth.
Our recent visit to Vincent at Jean Latour-Labille reminded us of what we already knew. These wines are exceptional. Afterall, he is a winner of Decanter’s 5 star award. In June we tasted through his entire range (which now includes St Aubin and some small quantity of red) and the excitement was palpable. In recent years Vincent and Cécile have propelled the estate to a position of international acclaim. In 2005 they won the coveted Decanter Magazine 5 star award and have been recommended by many major international wine critics of renown. Vincent still refuses to work with any single large wine merchant which thankfully leaves the door open for us to offer these brilliant wines. We are adamant that there are no better Meursault wines available on the market at anywhere near this price.
The Latour-Labille family has been working the grand vines of Meursault since 1792. The estate has 12ha of Meursault vines including the very special monopole (a vineyard that they alone own and work) Clos des Meix Chavaux. They mature their wines for 18 months in French oak barrels and carefully manage the proportion of new oak, so not to suppress the natural vivacity of the fruit of their mature Chardonnay vines. The wines are made and matured in splendid arched cellars built in the XVIII century.
