2005 is a superb Hunter red vintage and one of the best we have seen at Meerea Park in our 16 years. The wines have the fruit power of the famed 2003 vintage but also have wonderfully soft tannins that make them very balanced and highly drinkable upon release. This softness should not inhibit their cellaring capability.
The 2001 release from Meerea Park was the first of this blend from the Hunter Valley. Viognier is proving to be well suited to the Upper Hunter climate producing fruit with true varietal characteristics. Shiraz Viognier is the blend produced in France's Cote Rotie Appellation in the Northern Rhone Valley.
"It smells like the Hunter and it tates like the Hunter, it's celan and yet savoury and its tannins, so often an issue with 2004 Hunter Shiraz, have been perfectly managed. Blackberry, plums, saltbush, cedar, kirsch - this is a very swish wine. Drink 2010-2017. 94 points.
Semillon is traditionally the first fruit harvested in the Hunter Valley each year for still wine production. For Meerea Park, this signals the commencement of each vintage and this is our ‘epoch’.
The 2007 is our 9th vintage of Viognier, the first release being from the 1999 vintage. It was previously named ‘Lindsay Hill’ until the 2003 vintage. Viognier is native to the Condrieu appellation in the Northern Rhone Valley, which shares the similar low fertility soils, and dry vintage conditions of the Upper Hunter.
Legendary winemaker Brian Crosser has headed south to the Fleurieu Penninsula opposite Kangaroo Island to find a new terroir for Pinot Noir in Australia.
This estate has been fully restored by the vision of Francis Ford Coppola and stewardship of Larry Stone. Breathtaking.
This terroir-driven cuvee is 100% Chardonnay from Premier Cru sites, from a single vineyard in the famed village of Cuis. It’s utterly delicious and very compelling. The style is bone dry, zesty, very mineral and refined.
Quite possibly the best ever Magari, this Bordeaux inspired blend is an outstanding Super-Tuscan.
One of the most decorated fine wines in the world and regular slayer of the finest Bordeaux. Few wines can claim to have outshone the best of Bordeaux for 3 decades.
The red coteaux champenois (the denomination that describes still wines from Champagne) from Aÿ. 'La Côte aux Enfants', therefore constitutes a return to the origins of Champagne.
