It is hard to find a better Crozes-Hermitage than Chapoutier's single-vineyard Les Varonniers. Robert Parker
Part of his Seleccion Parcellaires series, one of Chapoutier’s finest offerings is the St.-Joseph Les Granits, a luxury cuvee produced from hillside granite soils near the village of Mauves (the home of renowned northern Rhone wine producers, Jean-Louis and Gerard Chave).

The grapes grown in this Austrialian vineyard were planted on 19th century French rootstocks, another nod to the French tradition & influence in this new world wine. This wine is a collaborative effort between two renowned wine families; Chapoutier from the Rhône Valley in France, and Terlato family of Napa Valley in California.

The Chapoutier & Terlato 2005 Syrah de Malakoff is a top selection from the Pyrenees sector of Victoria, Australia. It exhibits superb depth and richness in its smoky, camphor, black pepper, violet, and black currant-scented and flavored personality.

Chapoutier is one of the legends of modern winemaking. His finest Northern Rhone wines sell for £100s per bottle. However, you can enjoy a taste of his skillful winemaking at a fraction of that price. This wine has great purity of fruit, superb balance, a rustic charm that is so Southern France.
