La Rioja Alta Vina Ardanza Rioja Reserva 2000 MAGNUM (LTD AVAILABILITY)

La Rioja Alta Vina Ardanza Rioja Reserva 2000 MAGNUM (LTD AVAILABILITY)

Enjoy 2010 - 2018 +

There are three great Reserva's at La Rioja Alta, Alberdi, Arana and Ardanza. This, the latter is traditionally the richest and most expressively fruity. Some say this is due, at least in part, to a large splash of Garnacha (aka Grenache) in the blend, reaching around one-fifth. Like all the 'Alta' Reservas the wine is aged in 4 year old American oak for three years and then kept in bottle for a further two before release.

Tenuta San Guido Guidalberto MAGNUM 2007, Sassicaia

Tenuta San Guido Guidalberto MAGNUM 2007, Sassicaia

Drink 2010 - 2020 +

This is very much winemaker Sebastiano’s baby – so to speak – and from the 2006 vintage release, this wine has leaped in quality and style and now very much reflects the character and terroir of Sassicaia itself. 2007 was yet another brilliant year in Tuscany and this wine is now firmly into its stride. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, with a high proportion of the Cabernet being a direct declassification of the Sassicaia cuvée. Every year this wine sells out so grab an allocation no

The grapes are grown in three adjoining vineyards on a defined stretch of gravelly soil approximately one-and-a-quarter miles long and a half-mile wide.  Today, Geyserville finds itself to be the most collectable Zinfandel in the world.  Rare to find in magnums, we have a small allocation.  Don't miss out!

Ridge Vineyards Geyserville Zinfandel MAGNUMS 2007, Sonoma County

Ridge Vineyards Geyserville Zinfandel MAGNUMS 2007, Sonoma County

Drink 2011 - 2020

Very different fruit character on the nose compared with the Lytton Springs. Still quite red but sweeter and more like damson and red cherry like the centre of a cherry liqueur chocolate. And a touch more fruit sweetness. Very fragrant. Sensuous but so lively too. Concentrated, moreish, dry and really determined. Fine purity of fruit yet in a spectrum of flavours that do not often coincide with freshness. Spicy long finish. Both power and freshness and so easy to drink although it has plenty of time to go. (JH).  Jancis Robinson 17.5/20

Allegrini Palazzo della Torre MAGNUMS 2006, Veneto

Allegrini Palazzo della Torre MAGNUMS 2006, Veneto

Enjoy 2012 - 2018

Allegrini is a megastar in the Veneto region of northern Italy. This is a name to look out for on wine lists because the wines from this noble estate start with an inexpensive Valpolicella, which never disappoints, and heads all of the way up to the knockout, super-cuvée La Poja and a Amarone, which is among the finest of its kind on the planet. Now, you will have to drop £100 in a restaurant for these two, so how do you get a decent slice of the majesty of this estate, but for a much more affordable price tag? Pallazo della Torre (a ripasso technique Valpol which gathers extra density from being passed over dried grapes and refermented) is a stunner, with more than a nod to its two stellar colleagues."
