Quite possibly the best ever Magari, this Bordeaux inspired blend is an outstanding Super-Tuscan.
The Vermentino that we work with comes from Poggio al Tesoro, which is one of the most exciting estates to have emerged from Italy in recent years. The pedigree is faultless...
We have followed this wine from its inception with winemaker Axel Heinz and in our humble opinion is the best Serre Nuove yet. As you may well know the 2006 vintage in Bolgheri (and many other parts of Italy) is truly special and this wine is not only very fine in its own right, but a portend of things to come next year when the “big guns” are released.
Deep amber in colour, with perfumes of dried fruit on the nose, together with figs, almonds and honey. Rich and velvety in the mouth, although sweet, it is well balanced with good acidity which prevents it from being cloying.
The 2001 vintage came top in a Decanter tasting of 141 Brunelli, showing the influence that Alberto Antonini is now having on the wines, which now have a freshness allied to a power and structure that is very typical of good Brunello. The 2002 was one of the best wines of the vintage, while the 2003 has lovely balance, being forward and full yet intense and long.

The 2006 vintage in Tuscany is destined to go down as one of the greatest of all time and for the first time winemaker Sebastiano Rosa has echoed the Bordeaux-blend of Sassicaia itself. With a blend of Cabernet (60%) and Merlot (40%) Guidalberto is now an echo of this, the greatest of Italian wines.
Querciabella's new Tuscan IGT wine is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese, which provides the quintessential expression of the color, fruit and intensity that the region produces.
At Ornellaia there are 30 ha of vineyards dedicated to the production of Ornellaia and Le Serre Nuove, the grand vin and second wine, both Bordeaux blends of the two Cabernets and Merlot.
Born in 1997, Le Serre Nuove, the 'second' wine of the Ornellaia estate was created to allow even more rigorous selection of the base wines during the creation of Ornellaia. Produced mainly from the estate's younger vines, Le Serre Nuove combines the pedigree of the flagship wine with the suppleness and youthfulness of a more approachable style. Vinification and barrel ageing of Le Serre Nuove is identical to Ornellaia itself and produces a complex, well-structured wine dominated by ripe attractive red berry fruit aromas.

“To stop making Chianti would, for us, to be like to stop breathing” says winemaker Dr Filippo Ferrari. Respiro is the result of the vinification of Sangiovese to which tiny quantities of Trebbiano have been added to increase the freshness and make it even more delicious on the palate. The alcohol is perfectly integrated at 13% and production stands at just 20,000 bottles per annum.

Querciabella began in 1974 with a few hectares of vineyard and a few old buildings in Greve in Chianti. Since then the estate has expanded to almost 500 acres, and a state of the art winery. Both viticulture and wine making techniques follow strict biodynamic standards.
Gaiaccia is made using Sangiovese and Merlot grapes from a single vineyard "Capaccio", which has calcareous-clayey stony soil frquently subjected to drought. Therefore, the slow and gradual efforts of the plants to reach their natural equilibrium produces rich, concentrated grapes.
