Bright reddish-purple in colour. Aromas of ripe blackberries and plums are mirrored in the flavors. A direct, Zinfandel-like fruitiness combined with Merlot-like soft tannins make it charmingly seductive.

E. Pira

The tiny two-hectare estate, in the village of Barolo, was once the property of Luigi Pira but was bought in 1990 by Chiara Boschis’ family. This young Italian dynamo took over all aspects – from pruning to picking, vinifying and labelling – she even delivers the finished product to her local customers in person. Her mission is to combine the power of Barolo with approachability and elegance, something these wines accomplish beautifully. The Dolcetto and Barbera are all unfiltered, from fruit within her estate.  In our view, they make a spectacular selection of wines that offer brilliant value when compared to many of the other established wines of the region.
