The Roger family’s Pinot Noir vines are planted on the Sancerrois regions three main soil types flint, terres blanches and caillottes. Although most of their Pinot Noir grapes go into the production of their red wine around one-fifth of the harvest is used for the production of rosé wines, most of which come from flint-based terroirs as they are looking for elegance and lightness of touch.
Essentially their Sancerre Rosé is vinified as for white wine with the grapes being pressed immediately after being harvested. The gentle pressing of the Pinot Noir grapes gives a unique salmon pink colour to this Sancerre Rosé along with lightness, elegance and finesse in flavour. It is the perfect match for Asian and Indian cuisine, and is ideal with cold meat dishes, deli meats and smoked salmon. It may of course be served as an exceptional aperitif.
The rosé is sub-titled La Grange Dîmière in reference to one of Bué’s ancient tithe barns which constitutes the oldest part of the family winery.
